Dangote Assures Nigerians On Economic Revival

Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has called on indigenous and foreign investors to invest more in the economy of Nigeria, revealing that Nigeria is the best place to have good returns on investment.
Speaking recently when a group of entrepreneurs visited him in his office in Lagos, Dangote assured them and other Nigerians of economic revival, stating that the current challenges facing the country will soon be a thing of the past.
“We need not be discouraged by various challenges facing us as a nation, they are necessary steps needed for the nation to rank among the best industrially in years to come,” said Dangote.
He noted that the situation in Nigeria is such that all must ensure the dream of Nigeria’s economic turn-around becomes a reality.
The business mogul therefore urged that local investors should complement the efforts of the Federal Government at ensuring the success of the economic agenda by engaging in manufacturing as one of the means of empowering Nigerians through job creation.
He then advised them to take advantage of abundant opportunities in the country to invest in employment-generating businesses to empower Nigerians.
Dangote assured that his group is already walking the talk and promised that he would do all within his power to ensure that any investment he makes is job creation focused. He urged other investors to do same for the nation to be where it ought to be in 2020.
To buttress his position, Dangote referred to a report published last August by the renowned Global Consulting firm, McKinsey, on the economic potentials in Nigeria and a host of other African countries.
Said he: “The McKinsey Report is very instructive, it says that half of the 30 million jobs in African manufacturing, offer wage paying employment, a higher share than most sectors. If current projections for manufacturing value-added growth hold, it is estimated that that the sector will create eight million more stable jobs by 2020.”
Dangote, who is a member of the National Economic Management Team, stated that what Nigerians need most presently is economic empowerment and that it is only a working population, whether self-employed or engaged could be economically empowered.
“Economic development of the country rests more on the shoulders of the private sector operators.  Government strategic role is to ensure conducive environment by putting in place right policies that will encourage setting up of businesses,” Dangote explained.
He noted that it was only through the active involvement of the private sector that the areas of infrastructure deficit could be tracked and tackled by government, adding that all countries of the world whose economy have made appreciable impact on the citizenry have done so through manufacturing.
He however appealed to all Nigerians to contribute their own quota by always doing what is right and adequately paying their taxes for the country to experience real growth and development.

There’s Nothing Wrong With Planning To Be Rich And Saying It Too!

A number of folks are careful about openly saying that they plan to be rich. They don’t want to be tagged as one of those who supposedly “like money”. It’s something we hear everyday; “That man likes money too much”.
I have fallen victim too. A friend of mine recently tagged me simply because I frequently discussed ideas, businesses, raising venture capital, getting companies being bought and sold in the tech space etc.
Well I stopped discussing such with him. I couldn’t blame him; he works with a multinational and earns 7 figures a year. His mum worked in the oil industry and retired wealthy, while his dad is a successful Nigerian businessman. To such a fellow, money isn’t an issue, but to one who has lost his dad and has to care for his mum and siblings, well it is.
The Bible says that money answers all things (Ecclesiastes 10:19). That doesn’t mean we should put all our trust in money or even worship it like some do. It only shows how much money can influence life. The same Bible warns that the love of money is the root of all evil.
Is desiring or having money a good thing? Well, those who have had loved ones die for lack of access to quality healthcare will tell you it is. The dropout who desired a certain level of education but couldn’t afford it will also respond in the positive. I can go on but you get my point.
My attitude towards money is pretty simple. For me, 3 things determine if a man has a wrong mindset towards money:
1) What he’s willing to do for it: I am strongly against those who try to get rich illegally or those who sell their soul for it. From corruption to rituals to cultism and all kinds of evil people get involved with just to get famous and rich. Unfortunately, we find our leaders who are supposed to be role models involved in same. What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world yet lose his soul?
Our youth should emulate people making money the right way in Nigeria and around the world. Riches grow wings and fly way (Proverbs 23:4-5). We shouldn’t do evil or sell our souls for money.
2) What he’s willing to give up for it: Why should a man sacrifice his health, family and friends, peace of mind just to get rich? What is the essence of gaining wealth and losing health or raising irresponsible children who will squander it all?
Unfortunately, some people fail to prioritize the important things in their life until it’s too late. Many have regrets in their old age and wish they paid more attention to the truly significant things in life. We shouldn’t give up the things that matter for money.
3) What he plans to do with it: The purpose of a man’s desire for wealth should be for good. It shouldn’t for selfish or boastful reasons. A blessed man should be a blessing to others. Money should be a servant to man and not the other way round.
In fact, the rich are on a mission in the world to be a blessing to the less privileged ones. They miss their calling once they believe life is all about them and their offspring. We shouldn’t be stingy with money.
Those are my thoughts about money. There’s nothing wrong with wanting lots of it and saying exactly that. But we should not do wrong to get it, give up the things that matter for it or be stingy with it.

Flashy Lamborghini Seized in London After Qatari Driver Was Stopped For Driving Without a Licence

Police seized a ‘glow-in-the-dark’ Lamborghini car from a London street after its wealthy Qatari owner was stopped for not having a licence or the correct insurance.
The £350,000 Lamborghini Aventador – with a paint job that made it look like something out of the sci-fi film Tron – was impounded near Harrod’s in Knightsbridge on Thursday, 27 June.   It is understood its owner is 24-year-old Nasser Al-Thani, a member of Qatar’s ruling family.

Police stopped the car, which was also missing its front number plate, on Brompton Street and had it towed away after Mr Al-Thani failed to produce a licence or the correct insurance.

A crowd gathered around the ostentatious scissor-door car, which has been customized by a Japanese tuning company, as three police officers on motorbikes waited for the tow-truck to arrive.

When a low-loader finally appeared, an officer slowly drove the supercar onto the back before it was transported to a local pound

One onlooker said: ‘It is great when the wealthy foreign tourists come over to London every summer as you always see these amazing supercars. ‘The Lamborghini looked like something out of Tron, it was absolutely stunning.‘ Wealthy Middle-Eastern drivers descend on the capital in their supercars every summer and have even been the subject of a Channel 4 documentary, Millionaire Boy Racers, which showed angry residents saying their driving style was ruining the area for locals.

The Al-Thani family are renowned for their wacky supercars and hit the headlines three years ago when their blue Lamborghini and Koenigseggs were clamped outside Harrods. The Lamborghini Aventador is one of the world’s fastest supercars. It is powered by a 6.5-litre V12 engine which gives a 0-62mph time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 217mph.
